For coeliac families

School and lunchbox kit

Packing a gluten-free lunchbox and getting school ready gets easier with the right bits and pieces. Here are a few things coeliac families often talk about: toaster bags, lunchboxes with separate compartments, cookbooks, and a toaster or air fryer kept just for gluten-free food, alongside our own printables. Always check labels and follow your child's clinical team and Coeliac UK for the facts. Different food, same adventures.

Reusable toaster bags

A cheap, packable way to toast gluten-free bread in a shared toaster at home, on holiday or at friends'. Coeliac UK suggests toaster bags or a separate toaster to help avoid cross-contamination; check the bag before each use and replace it when it wears.

Kids' bento lunchboxes (Yumbox, Bentgo)

Separate compartments keep each part of a packed lunch in its own space, and a box kept just for your child's gluten-free food can make lunchtime simpler.

UK coeliac cookbooks: Becky Excell and others

Gluten-free recipes for the foods families miss, from bakes to fakeaways, written by UK authors who live gluten free. A good gift for a newly diagnosed family, and handy for the rest of us.

A long-slot toaster or a dual-drawer air fryer

Some families keep one just for gluten-free food so there's less to think about at breakfast and teatime. Long slots fit larger gluten-free slices and toaster bags. If you share a dual-drawer air fryer, choose one with fully separate drawers and keep one drawer gluten-free.
